Here at Calvary, we believe that we serve a God who is “on mission” in the world. As a result, we believe that we are called – both as individuals and as a church – to join in that mission so that we can become a part of expanding the embrace of God’s kingdom.<\/p>\n
Because we know that God is at work in places far beyond our reach as one congregation, one of the ways that we extend our reach (both locally and globally) is through support of our ministry partners<\/a>. Through our prayers and our financial gifts, we know that we’re helping to meet needs and to share the good news of Jesus Christ with people who need to discover the life-changing power of God’s love. In addition, Calvary Baptist is proud to be the “sending church” for Andy and Cari Robertson: members of our congregation who have devoted their lives to serve as medical missionaries in Chad under the auspices of\u00a0African Inland Mission<\/a><\/em>. Finally, Calvary has entered into a long-term partnership with the\u00a0El Faro Encendido<\/em> Church in the village of Copper Bank in Belize. Working under the auspices of Thirst Missions<\/a><\/em>, Calvary is planning\u00a0annual mission trips, prayer ministries, and ongoing communication to develop relationships and to share mutual encouragement as our two congregations serve Christ.<\/p>\n As important as these partnerships are, we also recognize our responsibility to roll up our sleeves and get to work so that we can “be a blessing” to others, demonstrating the love of God in practical ways. That’s why we\u00a0are constantly on the look-out for other ways that we can reach beyond the walls of our church to make a positive difference in the life of our community. For example,\u00a0Calvary has become a main supporter of the Franklin Elementary Backpack Program<\/em>, a ministry of the school nearest our church, which fights child hunger by providing a weekend’s-worth of nutritious food to students from working families that are struggling to make ends meet.
