New Here?

New Here?

We know that visiting a new church can be intimidating. But we also know that the best way to learn more about us is to be our guest one Sunday morning. So in order to help make that first visit a little less stressful, here are answers to some questions that might be on your mind.

When are your services?
Calvary offers two worship gatherings almost every Sunday morning, each of which invites participants to hear from and respond to God through music, prayer and a relevant message. Our Uplift worship service currently begins at 8:30 AM and has a relaxed atmosphere with contemporary music led by our praise band. We also have a traditional service at 10:55 AM. Both services are in-person as well as streamed through Facebook live.
How should I dress?
You’ll find that the people who worship at Calvary dress in a variety of styles. Some come in jeans; others wear “business casual” attire, and still others come in their Sunday best. Now it is true that our contemporary service trends a little more casual; and our traditional service sports a few more dresses, suits and ties. But in the end, we want you to be who you are. We don’t have a dress code, and we feel confident that you’ll fit in – no matter how you’re dressed.
What will happen when I visit for the first time?
We know that many people who are visiting a church for the first time want to check things out and “be anonymous” for awhile. So when you’re a guest of our congregation, we promise that we won’t embarrass you by asking you to stand up and raise your hand, nor will we show up at your front door later that day! However, if you’d be kind enough to fill out a guest card during your visit, our pastor will send you a note to express our appreciation for your presence with us.
What about my kids?
At Calvary, we understand that your children are a top priority; so we make them our priority, too. Our nursery is clean, safe, and staffed with loving workers. It is available for children from newborn to 3 years during both our contemporary and traditional services. At our traditional service, children Pre-K to Grade 2 are encouraged to participate in the first few minutes of worship (to help them get used to “big church”). Then, after a Children’s Message, ministry leaders will guide them to their own time of “Children’s Church.”

If you’re bringing young children, we encourage you to come a few minutes early to check them in. All of our children’s areas and classes are located on the upper floor of our educational building, just behind the sanctuary.

Of course, if you’d like even more opportunities for your kids, you’ll want to check out our Explorers ministry for grade school kids – and our Experience ministry for students in middle and high school.

What if I have other questions?
If you have other questions – especially questions about our ministries, beliefs and upcoming events – you can probably find some answers in other sections of this website. However, we know that we can’t anticipate everything you’d like to know. So please feel free to call the church office (336-786-4778) or touch base with our pastor, Rev. Alex Martin
